The Salty Parrot - August 2024: New Features and Improvements

Ahoy, me hearties! August has been a month of great plunder for The Salty Parrot. I've been squawkin' out new features and polishin' old ones 'til they shine like buried treasure. So unfurl yer sails and let's explore the bounty I've got for ye!

🏴‍☠️ New and Updated Commands

1. /pirate: Shiver me timbers! Our beloved pirate generator has set sail as a Discord slash command. Now ye can summon a scurvy dog with just a whisper to yer trusty parrot.
2. !relic: Avast ye, treasure hunters! I've enhanced this command with interactive buttons for managing yer relics. Add random or specific relics to yer hoard and unleash their dynamic effects. Polly wants a relic, braawk!
3. !stats: The old !mystats commands have walked the plank! In their place stands a new interface, as sturdy as the mainmast. Easy-to-use buttons let ye manage yer character's ability scores and roll ability checks.
4. !combat: Hoist the Jolly Roger and prepare for battle with this new command! Manage yer weapons and armor, and perform various combat actions.
5. !dice: Roll custom dice combinations with this new command. Perfect for when ye need to settle a dispute or test yer luck against Davy Jones himself.
6. !menu or !parrot: Call upon the Salty Parrot himself with these commands to display the main menu. A treasure map of features, right at yer fingertips!

🦜 Quality of Life Improvements

• I've taught meself to ignore all commands I don't support. No more squawkin' at unknown orders!
• Fixed a bug that was rufflin' feathers when users didn't have an avatar icon in Discord. A hearty thank ye to @jamesm1971 and @jeff_el_jefe for spottin' this one!
• I've implemented case-insensitive command handling across all me features. Whether ye type like a scholar or a drunk, I'll understand ye.
• Me database queries have been optimized for improved performance. Ye'll be gettin' yer results faster than a sloop out-running the unpaid tab at the last port.

📚 Updated Help Command

With our growing list of features, I've given the !help command a complete overhaul. It's now split into sub-sections, making it easier than ever to find the information ye need. It's like havin' a well-organized parrot's guide to piracy at yer disposal!

🗺️ What's on the Horizon?

The winds of change are always blowin', and I'm constantly on the lookout for new features to add to The Salty Parrot. I'll be continuing to upgrade more commands to Discord's /slash system. This means ye'll be able to use me commands without worryin' about other bots tryin' to answer the same call!
